Safeguard the cause of the Church, to care for its affairs, and to repress the efforts of the nefarious enemies of men. These must be overcome by the united and persistent vigilance of the bishops. If at any time whatsoever, then surely now in this most sad age, it is the duty of bishops to battle most strenuously against the enemies of the faith. Hence the bishops, relying on divine aid, must raise their episcopal voice and must preach the gospel to all. They must announce, teach, explain, and impress upon both the wise and the foolish, the eternal truths of our divine faith along with its doctrines and precepts. The bishops are also bound to explain and to show to both the highest princes and the government the deplorable evils and damage which affect the people and the princes themselves. This is the result of the present-day contempt of religion and of the spirit of unbelief rising from the darkness under the fallacious appearance of social progress; this, of course, harms the Christian and the civil government. The Church well knows that the gates of hell will not prevail against her. Furthermore, she knows that she will be sorely afflicted; that her apostles are sent as lambs among wolves; that her followers will always bear the brunt of hatred and contempt, just as her Divine Founder received hatred and contempt. So the Church advances unafraid, spreading the Kingdom of God wherever she preaches and studying every possible means she can use in regaining the losses in the kingdom already conquered. “To restore all things in Christ” has always been the Church’s motto, and it is especially Our Own during these fearful moments through which we are now passing. “To restore all things” — not in any haphazard fashion, but “in Christ”; and the Apostle adds, “both those in the heavens and those on the earth.” “To restore all things in Christ” includes not only what properly pertains to the divine mission of the Church, namely, leading souls to God, but also what We have already explained as flowing from that divine mission, namely, Christian civilization in each and every one of the elements composing it. Thus far, history has not yet given humanity a just war. Despite philosophical or theological rationalizations, there is no such animal as a just war. Only fools say otherwise. **What? No just wars, ever? Somebody should have told the guys in the below pics there are “no just wars” when they were fighting and dying to save the bishops own country from Japanese slavery. His comments sound silly, cowardly, and against the teaching of the Church.**

We shall never, however much we exert ourselves, succeed in calling men back to the majesty and empire of God, except by means of Jesus Christ. “No one,” the Apostle admonishes us, “can lay other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (I. “Having set our minds to remove everything that may in some way offend the Divine Majesty, We resolve to punish, above all and without indulgence, those things which, by the authority of the Sacred Scriptures or by most grievous examples, are most repugnant to God and elicit His wrath; that is, negligence in divine worship, ruinous simony, the crime of blasphemy, and the execrable libidinous vice against nature. For which faults peoples and nations are scourged by God, according to His just condemnation, with catastrophes, wars, famine and plagues. . . . Let the judges know that, if even after this, Our Constitution, they are negligent in punishing these crimes, they will be guilty of them at Divine Judgment and will also incur Our indignation. . . . What precipatated this Post?:
Dr Qazi Rahman, a lecturer in cognitive biology at Queen Mary, University of London, said that he believed that these brain differences were laid down early in foetal development.

“As far as I’m concerned there is no argument any more – if you are gay, you are born gay,” he said.

The amygdala, he said, was important because of its role in “orientating”, or directing, the rest of the brain in response to an emotional stimulus – be it during the “fight or flight” response, or the presence of a potential mate. (Article on “Gay Brain”)

Response: So what? Every Human Being on this planet is attracted to some form of Sin. Whether or not there is a physical phenomenon to explain this is irrelevant. Known Example: Men with high Testostorone levels tend to exhibit higher levels of promiscuity, and violence. Does that decrease the culpability of their actions? If so, then we would need to release most of the prison population. I would not be suprised in the coming years if science eventually finds physical “proofs” for “voilence brain wrinkles”, or “greed genes”, etc.. Why so? Since when does Original Sin effect only the soul of man? Is not the body also groaning under sin? You have the answer every time you pass by a cemetary, hospital, or dentist office.

Homosexuals want their sin to be exempt, they want us to say their sin is not sin. They want us to call evil good. They have organized themselves, and are forcing Society to go along with it. Why don’t all pick-pockets get organized, and campaign against “anti-Thieve” sentiments. Create something called “Theiveaphobia”, and lambast all who disagree as biogots, hate-mongers, etc. We’ll have an annual “Thief Pride Parade” down 5th Avenue!

Even if all Humanity lost it’s mind and it’s morals and acquiesced to the “normalization” of Sodomy it would still be Objectively wrong. Example: Imagine if all men in the world held hands , and simultaneously screamed out “Homosexuality is normal”, would it make it so? How about if they screamed out “The sky is green, and there are 2 Suns in the sky!”, would it change anything? We understand the word Objectively to be the view of God, right? He is the Only One who’s “opinion” matters. His “opinion” is reality, it’s what we live in. And, we know He considers this particular sin to be an Abomination. We are not doing the folks who suffer with same-sex attraction any favours by going along with the Organized Homosexual aganda. We’re just greasing the skids into The Exterior Darkness.

So then, if the mixed cup and the manufactured bread receive the Word of God and become the Eucharist, that is to say, the Blood and Body of Christ, which fortify and build up the substance of our flesh, how can these people claim that the flesh is incapable of receiving God’s gift of eternal life, when it is nourished by Christ’s Blood and Body and is His member? Then, again, how can they say that the flesh, which is nourished with the body of the Lord and with His blood, goes to corruption, and does not partake of life? Such a combination of doctrine and piety, of erudition and virtue, of truth and charity, is to be found in an eminent degree in the angelic Doctor and it is not without reason that he has been given the sun for a device; for he both brings the light of learning into the minds of men and fires their hearts and wills with the virtues. Our holy religion was not invented by human reason, but was most mercifully revealed by God; therefore, one can quite easily understand that religion itself acquires all its power from the authority of God who made the revelation, and that it can never be arrived at or perfected by human reason. In order not to be deceived and go astray in a matter of such great importance, human reason should indeed carefully investigate the fact of divine revelation. “John 1:41-42: ”He findeth first his brother Simon, and saith to him: We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looking upon him, said: Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is interpreted Peter.”  

For the above Scripture to imply that Simon’s new name was meant to be understood as “small stone,” the writer would use the Latin word “calculus” which means “small stone.” However, the Scripture explicitly states that “Cephas” is interpreted as “Peter.” “Peter” means “rock” in Latin.

The translation of Matthew’s Gospel into Greek named Simon “Petros” rather than “petra” because “petra” is a feminine noun and unsuitable for a man’s name. The translator had no problem substituting the masculine form “Petros” because in Koine Greek, which was the dialect in use at the time of the New Testament, “petra” and “petros” both meant the same thing, “rock.”

“Petros” and “petras” meant “small stone” and “large rock” in some ancient Greek poetry, centuries before the time of Christ, but that distinction had disappeared from the language by the time Matthew’s Gospel was rendered in Greek. As Greek scholars—even non-Catholic ones—admit, the words “petros” and “petra” were synonyms in first century Greek.

The difference between “petros” and “petras” can only be found in Attic Greek, but the New Testament was written in Koine Greek—an entirely different dialect. In Koine Greek, both “petros” and “petra” simply meant “rock.” If Jesus had wanted to call Simon a small stone, the translation of Christ’s Aramaic into Greek would have been “lithos,” which means “small stone” in Koine Greek. In a more serious note, His Holiness condemned the voilence in Iraq, and spoke of the Martyred Bishop:
Benedict has called Rahho’s death an “inhuman act of violence” that offended human dignity. On Sunday, Benedict praised Rahho for his loyalty to Christ and his refusal to abandon his flock despite many threats and difficulties.
Benedict said Rahho’s dedication to the Catholic Church and his death compelled him to “raise a strong and sorrowful cry” to denounce the violence in Iraq spawned by the war that began five years ago this week. (Read Rest)

***Also, if you could pray for an older couple who I sat next to at the TLM at St. Agnes parish for the last 5 years (Walter & his wife Pat). They stopped attending Mass at St. Agnes around November, and I had no idea why, as they were indeed regulars. Another parishioner recently received a phone call from Pat, who informed her (and me via proxy) that Walter passed away on Christmas Eve. To make matters worse she was diagnosed with cancer at the same time, and is now undergoing treatment. Please pray for Walters’ soul, and that Pat gets well, and can forbear during this very rough patch. Thank You in advance, God Bless.***

These Jews, who were blind to all things, called on the Emperor (Julian the Apostate) for help and begged him to aid them in undertaking to rebuild the temple. The Emperor, for his part, spared no expense, sent engineers from all over the empire to oversee the work, summoned craftsmen from every land; he left nothing undone, nothing untried. At the same time, in his mad folly, he was hoping to cancel out the sentence passed by Christ which forbade the rebuilding of the temple.

They removed a great mound of earth and began to lay bare the foundations. They were just about to start building when suddenly fire leaped forth from the foundations and completely consumed not only a great number of the workmen but even the stones piled up there to support the structure. This put a stop to the untimely obstinacy of those who had undertaken the project. Many of the Jews, too, who had seen what had happened, were astonished and struck with shame. The Emperor Julian had been madly eager to finish the work. But when he heard what had happened, he was afraid that, if he went on with it, he might call down the fire on his  own head. He (Julian) planned at vast cost to restore the once splendid temple at Jerusalem. He had entrusted the speedy performance of this work to Alypius of Antioch. But, though this Alypius pushed the work on with vigour, aided by the governor of the province, terrifying balls of flame kept bursting forth near the foundations of the temple, and made the place inaccessible to the workmen, some of whom were burned to death; and since in this way the element persistently repelled them, the enterprise halted.
