And behold a great tempest arose in the sea, so that the boat was covered with waves, but he was asleep. And they came to him, and awaked him, saying: Lord, save us, we perish. And Jesus saith to them: Why are you fearful, O ye of little faith? Then rising up he commanded the winds, and the sea, and there came a great calm. Matt 8:24

While this America settles in the mould of its vulgarity, heavily thickening
to empire
And protest, only a bubble in the molten mass, pops and sighs out, and the
mass hardens,
I sadly smiling remember that the flower fades to make fruit, the fruit rots
to make earth.
Out of the mother; and through the spring exultances, ripeness and decadence; and home to the mother.
You making haste haste on decay: not blameworthy; life is good, be it stubbornly long or suddenly
A mortal splendor: meteors are not needed less than mountains:
shine, perishing republic.
But for my children, I would have them keep their distance from the thickening center; corruption
Never has been compulsory, when the cities lie at the monster’s feet there
are left the mountains.
And boys, be in nothing so moderate as in love of man, a clever servant,
insufferable master.
There is the trap that catches noblest spirits, that caught – they say –
God, when he walked on earth. Robinson Jeffers: Shine, Perishing Republic

Oh Cincinnatus of the Potomac! Weep for the Republic! Leftist Rabble have taken the ramparts…The Leathery Wings of Socialism are casting a dark shadow over our fair land. The Bureaucratic Vampires of the Nanny State are sharpening their teeth, and marking our veins. The Grand Turk has taken the reins…. The Demoniac Party’s planks of Atheism, Socialism, and Pre-Natal Infanticide will be further entrenched into law. My countrymen have become “flakes”, they are the most gullible politically-corrected dullards, they have elected their own chains. I never thought we would buy into Euro-style short-leash Socialism. Evidently they want Big-Daddy government handing out bread. They forget there’s a price attached. They have castrated and lobotomized themselves, and call it Freedom. Elected a man who has done nothing for this country. The Ayatollah Barak-Hussein-Obama will have a Demoniac Majority Congress, and he will stack an aging Supreme Court with like minded men. I just finished watching the crowds on the TV news shows, flashing to triumphant Obama supporters quipped up into a Hitlerite Euphoria. <Sigh>As the Omnipotent state rises, Thank God for the 2nd Amendment. It’s over Johnny, it’s over. America in 30 years: picture the slums of Rio, with snow.

As for you American “Catholics” out there who voted for this guy…If you’re a Catholic I’m an Algonquin Shaman. You have just added velocity to the downward trajectory of this country, and virtually guaranteed the continuance of child murder for another 30 years. And legalized Homo-marriage. Hang your heads in Shame. Disgusting.

Couldn’t get this song out of my head last night:

I call heaven and earth to witness this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Choose therefore life, that both thou and thy seed may live. Deut 30:18

“Look, I got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old,” he said. “I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” Barack Obama, March 29th 2008

It is no less true that we are confronted by an even larger reality, which can be described as a veritable structure of sin. This reality is characterized by the emergence of a culture which denies solidarity and in many cases takes the form of a veritable “culture of death”. This culture is actively fostered by powerful cultural, economic and political currents which encourage an idea of society excessively concerned with efficiency. Looking at the situation from this point of view, it is possible to speak in a certain sense of a war of the powerful against the weak: a life which would require greater acceptance, love and care is considered useless, or held to be an intolerable burden, and is therefore rejected in one way or another. A person who, because of illness, handicap or, more simply, just by existing, compromises the well-being or life-style of those who are more favoured tends to be looked upon as an enemy to be resisted or eliminated. In this way a kind of “conspiracy against life” is unleashed. Pope John Paul II: Evangelium Vitae

A presidential election forum at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church on Sunday centered mainly on abortion. The argument and audience, however, erupted when Diocese of Scranton Bishop Joseph F. Martino unexpectedly arrived and vehemently expressed his distaste for what was said about the church’s stance on voting for pro-choice candidates and the exclusion of his anti-abortion letter at the forum, which recommends voting against pro-choice candidates for moral reasons. Martino, who arrived while the panelists were stating their viewpoints, took issue with the USCCB statement, which was handed out to everyone at the meeting, and also that his letter was not mentioned once at the forum.

“No USCCB document is relevant in this diocese,” said Martino. “The USCCB doesn’t speak for me.”

“The only relevant document … is my letter,” he said. “There is one teacher in this diocese, and these points are not debatable.”….The letter also states that Catholic public officials who “persist in public support for abortion” should “not partake in or be admitted to the sacrament of Holy Communion.”

“No social issue has caused the death of 50 million people,” he said, nothing that he no longer supports the Democratic Party. “This is madness people.” Full Article (hat tip to Aufer a Nobis)

Why sow where the ground makes it its care to destroy the fruit? where there are many efforts at abortion? where there is murder before the birth? for even the harlot thou dost not let continue a mere harlot, but makest her a murderess also. You see how drunkenness leads to whoredom, whoredom to adultery, adultery to murder; or rather to a something even worse than murder. For I have no name to give it, since it does not take off the thing born, but prevent its being born. Why then dost thou abuse the gift of God, and fight with His laws, and follow after what is a curse as if a blessing, and make the chamber of procreation a chamber for murder, and arm the woman that was given for childbearing unto slaughter? For with a view to drawing more money by being agreeable and an object of longing to her lovers, even this she is not backward to do, so heaping upon thy head a great pile of fire. (St. John Chrysostom, Homily 24 on the Epistle to the Romans)
