Just because I’m sick of the politically correct jibber-jabber that passes for politics during an election season (they all suck, the only decent one (Ron Paul) will not win the Republicrat primary, and he said he won’t run as an Independent). So, just to shake things up a bit, some praise for Jefferson Davis, and the death of the small, locally managed Jeffersonian democratic republic he represented (commonly, and erroneously referred to as “states rights”, actually it was much more local).
Whilst Davis was in prison, Blessed Pope Pius IX sent, to the former President of the Confederate States of America, a crown of Jerusalem thorns hand-woven by the Pope’s own hands which, given their sharpness, he could not have done without drawing blood:
The Sovereign Pontiff also sent his own portrait self-autographed with the Scriptural verse:
“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Read rest of post from Roman Christendom).
Also, another interesting article on: Catholicism, Davis, and the Old South.
