(First post: “if only they listened“)

Advantage  to religious vows and ordination should be barred to those who are afflicted with evil tendencies to homosexuality or pederasty, since for them the common life and the priestly ministry would constitute serious dangers.Very special investigation is needed for those students who, although they have hitherto been free of formal sins against chastity, nevertheless suffer from morbid or abnormal sexuality, especially sexual hyperesthesia or an erotic bent of nature, to whom religious celibacy would be a continual act of heroism and a trying martyrdom. (Pope John XXIII Religiosorum institutio)

For the Greater Glory of God, the proper respect of the Most Holy Eucharist, and Edification of his Church.. The Traditional Latin Mass has been let out of the catacombs yet again!! Let the Nay-sayers be Nay-sayed, let the liberal crypto-Protestants gnash their teeth, let accusations of “schmismatic tendencies”, or “nostalgia” be quelled, let heterodox bishops shake their fists, let the Priesthood be”re-sacralized”, let the Priest face Christ in the Tabernacle instead of having his back to Him, let “extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist” quake with fear, let “female altar boys” not get too comfortable doing what boys should be doing, let sappy modernist hymns be silenced, let the Mahony’s, Weakland’s, Kung’s and the rest of them (you know you they are) vomit in terror, let mantilla makers get busy, let talk of the Good Archbishop (Lefevbre) being vindicated start to be whispered, let Communion be recieved on the tongue, and kneeling at the altar railing in all the Catholic World. The Ancient Mass has been given room to breathe, and live. (Some degree of  hyperbole was used in above post, but I am happy). (Link1)   (Link2). All that aside, we should all pray for the placid reception by the Bishops, Priests, and people of the Univeral Church of the Holy Father’s just decision to help restore Tradition.

Voice of the Church

It can be foreseen that this teaching will perhaps not be easily received by all: Too numerous are those voices — amplified by the modern means of propaganda — which are contrary to the voice of the Church. To tell the truth, the Church is not surprised to be made, like her divine Founder, a “sign of contradiction”, yet she does not because of this cease to proclaim with humble firmness the entire moral law, both natural and evangelical. (Pope Paul VI: Humanae Vitae)

Feed the Sheep

For the man who owing to his peculiar bent of mind, or any other cause, should choose to undertake the ministry of the Word, finds easy access to the pulpits of our churches as to a drill-ground where any one may practice at will. Therefore, Venerable Brethren, it is your duty to see that such a grave abuse should disappear, and since you will have to render to God and to His Church an account of the manner in which you feed your flock, allow no one to creep unbidden into the sheepfold and to feed the sheep of Christ according to his fancy. (Pope Benedict XV, Letter on Preaching)

The Worthy Workman

Do not possess gold, nor silver, nor money in your purses: Nor scrip for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor a staff; for the workman is worthy of his meat. (Matt 10:9)

Exterior worship, finally, reveals and emphasizes the unity of the mystical Body, feeds new fuel to its holy zeal, fortifies its energy, intensifies its action day by day: “for although the ceremonies themselves can claim no perfection or sanctity in their won right, they are, nevertheless, the outward acts of religion, designed to rouse the heart, like signals of a sort, to veneration of the sacred realities, and to raise the mind to meditation on the supernatural. They serve to foster piety, to kindle the flame of charity, to increase our faith and deepen our devotion. They provide instruction for simple folk, decoration for divine worship, continuity of religious practice. They make it possible to tell genuine Christians from their false or heretical counterparts. The Mountain of the Lord

And in the last days the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be prepared on the tops of mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go, and say: Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will teach us his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall come forth from Sion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Great Favor

As far as exterior matters are concerned, you know how completely cut off we are from everything. Oh, my Creator and Lord! When have I merited so great an honor? Thou seemest to have searched everywhere for means of drawing nearer to us. May it please Thy goodness that we lose not this through our own fault. Oh, sisters, for the love of God, try to realize what a great favor the Lord has bestowed on those of us whom He has brought here. (St. Theresa of Avila: The Way of Perfection)

Divine Profession

Go to confession to the Blessed Virgin, or to an angel; will they absolve you? No. Will they give you the Body and Blood of Our Lord? No. The Holy Virgin cannot make her Divine Son descend into the Host. You might have two hundred angels there, but they could not absolve you. A priest, however simple he may be, can do it; he can say to you, “Go in peace; I pardon you. ” Oh, how great is a priest! The priest will not understand the greatness of his office till he is in Heaven. If he understood it on earth, he would die, not of fear, but of love. The other benefits of God would be of no avail to us without the  priest. (St. John Vianney)

100,000 visits

Hello All, I just took a peek at my old site’s admin page (Blog-city), and came to the realization that between it, and the new blog I have actually recieved 106,000 hits since I started blogging 6 months ago (December). I just want to thank you to all who have taken to peeking here during your busy days. Hopefully it provides an aesthetically pleasing respite in an otherwise very chatty, and sometimes belligerent Catholic blogo-sphere. I have many more pictures ready to roll, and I plan on keeping the site active until December- January. The site will stay up after that of course. I don’t especially like blogging, finding pictures takes time, and I sometimes worry that I a making my Religion into a sort of hobby. I just want to provide a sort of central depository for old Catholic photo’s, and not let them fall into the Ecclesial post-Demiurge memory hole.

When all my pics are depleted on the blog, I will make public all the pictures on my many private Flickr accounts, just so that people can have a look-see without having to search all around the Internet to see 40-50 pics of St. Pius X in a tiara. If you have a blog, feel free to peruse the picture archive, and snag a relevant pic to use in an otherwise wordy post. This is what I wanted when I started this blog. We’re Catholics, we’re supposed to be visual.

I do not put much of myself on here, and unfortunately that gives this blog a sort of “facelessness”. However, that is OK, as it lends itself to a “picture gallery” look. But, for you curious types go to some old posts about yours truly on my old blog: Here, Here, and Here. Basically Ken is: Male, Single, 30 (I can’t believe I am that old now, eeek time goes by), 1/2 Italian, 1/4 English, 1/4 Slovak (Outer-borough NYers are very ethnicity conscious, always curious about what nationality you are, and vice-versa) from Staten Island, attend the TLM in St. Agnes in Manhattan, bla-bla-bla. Y’all come back now, and look at some more pretty pictures, ya hear!

Sacred Heart

But if men have always been deeply moved by the pierced Heart of the Savior to a worship of that infinite love with which He embraces mankind — since the words of the prophet Zacharias, “They shall look on Him Whom they have pierced,”referred by St. John the Evangelist to Jesus nailed to the Cross, have been spoken to Christians in all ages — it must yet be admitted that it was only by a very gradual advance that the honors of a special devotion were offered to that Heart as depicting the love, human and divine, which exists in the Incarnate Word. (Haurietis Aquas: Pope Pius XII)

Who’s being Disobedient?

Moreover, respect must everywhere by shown for the feelings of all those who are attached to the Latin liturgical tradition by a wide and generous application of the directives already issued some time ago by the Apostolic See for the use of the Roman Missal according to the typical edition of 1962. Some anti-Catholic, and anti-Papal (specifically St. Pius X) cartoons showing what the world felt about the late holy pope in his protection of the Church. Quite honestly I rather enjoy anti-Catholic cartoons, they’re just a great laugh. They also let you know the Church is on the right track.

The Long War

How many, think you, of those crowding around and gaping for Christian blood,—how many even of your rulers, notable for their justice to you and for their severe measures against us, may I charge in their own consciences with the sin of putting their offspring to death? In our case, murder being once for all forbidden, we may not destroy even the fœtus in the womb, while as yet the human being derives blood from other parts of the body for its sustenance. To hinder a birth is merely a speedier man-killing; nor does it matter whether you take away a life that is born, or destroy one that is coming to the birth. That is a man which is going to be one; you have the fruit already in its seed.  197 A.D. (Tertullian Apologia Chap 9)

Tantum Ergo

Down in adoration falling,
Lo! the sacred Host we hail,
Lo! oe’r ancient forms departing
Newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith for all defects supplying,
Where the feeble senses fail.

To the everlasting Father,
And the Son Who reigns on high
With the Holy Spirit proceeding
Forth from each eternally,
Be salvation, honor blessing,
Might and endless majesty.

Thou hast given them bread from heaven

Having within it all sweetness

Let us pray: O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament left us a memorial of Thy Passion: grant, we implore Thee, that we may so venerate the sacred mysteries of Thy Body and Blood, as always to be conscious of the fruit of Thy Redemption. Thou who livest and reignest forever and ever.

To know with an entire faith what is the excellence of the Most Holy Eucharist is in truth to know what that work is which, in the might of His mercy, God, made man, carried out on behalf of the human race. For as a right faith teaches us to acknowledge and to worship Christ as the sovereign cause of our salvation, since He by His wisdom, His laws, His ordinances, His example, and by the shedding of His blood, made all things new; so the same faith likewise teaches us to acknowledge Him and to worship Him as really present in the Eucharist, as verily abiding through all time in the midst of men, in order that as their Master, their Good Shepherd, their most acceptable Advocate with the Father, He may impart to them of His own inexhaustible abundance the benefits of that redemption which He has accomplished. Now if any one will seriously consider the benefits which flow from the Eucharist he will understand that conspicuous and chief among them all is that in which the rest, without exception, are included; in a word it is for men the source of life, of that life which best deserves the name. “The bread which I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world” (St. John vi., 52) (Leo XIII Mirae Caritatis)

Sacred Music

Sacred music, being a complementary part of the solemn liturgy, participates in the general scope of the liturgy, which is the glory of God and the sanctification and edification of the faithful. It contributes to the decorum and the splendor of the ecclesiastical ceremonies, ……These qualities are to be found, in the highest degree, in Gregorian Chant, which is, consequently the Chant proper to the Roman Church, the only chant she has inherited from the ancient fathers, which she has jealously guarded for centuries in her liturgical codices, which she directly proposes to the faithful as her own, which she prescribes exclusively for some parts of the liturgy… (Tra le Sollecitudini, Pope St. Pius X)

Favourite Prayer

A prayer  I say silently throughout the day is from the Mass: Through Him, With Him, In Him, in the Unity of the Holy Spirit, all Glory and Honour is Yours Almighty Father Forever and Ever. Just perfect and beautiful. Not wordy or overly formal, it just quickly sums up the Faith, and reminds you that Mass lasts throughout your life, not just at Church.

You see the revolving circle of the glory moving from Like to Like. The Son is glorified by the Spirit; the Father is glorified by the Son; again the Son has His glory from the Father; and the Only-begotten thus becomes the glory of the Spirit. For with what shall the Father be glorified, but with the true glory of the Son: and with what again shall the Son be glorified, but with the majesty of the Spirit? In like manner, again, Faith completes the circle, and glorifies the Son by means of the Spirit, and the Father by means of the Son.  (St Gregory of Nyssa)

Iraq could only be governed by a Secular Strongman, like… what wuz him name.. oh yeah.. Saddam. Yes, he was a power-hungry maniac, but Christians were left alone under his regime, and Sunnis and Shi’ites were too scared to get out of line. Democracy is not a Universal, and it does not work for all people at all times. Enough with the political idolatry. We have unleashed hell on these people, and released the Genie of Jihad. The one thing both the Sunni’s and Shi’ites agree on: they hate Christians. Pray for the Church there. I hope the war-mongering Evangelical Zionist “christians” (heretics) reap what they have sown.
