Meanwhile a Brazilian priest who works with native Indian groups sharply criticized the Pope for saying that the evangelization of Latin America had brought benefits to Indian culture. Father Paulo Suess told the Reuters news service that the Pope’s statement “was wrong and indefensible.” (CWN). (Bigger Whine)
Somebody should have told this Priest:
Missoula, Montana, USA — 6/21/1948-Missoula, MT: Father John J. Brown, first full-blooded Blackfoot Indian to become a priest of the Roman Catholic church, bestows blessings upon (l to r) Joe Woodcock, Chief Paul Charlo, and Pete Beaverhead in historic St. Ignatius Mission here. Brown, whose Indian name is Ksistaki-Poka, was ordained a short while before this picture was taken.
One only has to visit the Cathedral of the Osage(a.k.a Immaculate Conception Church) with it’s stained glass window depicting the conversion of the Osages to see that poor Fr. Suess deludes himself.
Men like Suess (who is – or until shortly was – president of the Missionary Indigenous Council and who doesn’t believe in conversion to Christ) are faithless and ignorant and all they usually care about is their ego and how to present it to the world. As a failsafe they engage for whatever minority du jour that needs a couple of tears, so they got the sympathy of the crowd and can always point towards the evil Church who made it all go wrong.
Bingo, Leo. Priorities are all wrong, they forget where their ultimate allegience should be. The whole “Big, Bad Church” thing is so old and sickening. Bad enough the secular’s do it, but from the inside, and in direct confrontation with the Pope. Enough with these clerics running amuck spouting politically correct opinions. Be a priest and shut up!
