We shall never, however much we exert ourselves, succeed in calling men back to the majesty and empire of God, except by means of Jesus Christ. “No one,” the Apostle admonishes us, “can lay other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (I. Cor., iii., II.) It is Christ alone “whom the Father sanctified and sent into this world” (Is. x., 36), “the splendor of the Father and the image of His substance” (Hebr. i., 3), true God and true man: without whom nobody can know God with the knowledge for salvation, “neither doth anyone know the Father but the Son, and he to whom it shall please the Son to reveal Him.” (Matth. xi., 27.) Hence it follows that to restore all things in Christ and to lead men back to submission to God is one and the same aim. To this, then, it behoves Us to devote Our care — to lead back mankind under the dominion of Christ; this done, We shall have brought it back to God. When We say to God We do not mean to that inert being heedless of all things human which the dream of materialists has imagined, but to the true and living God, one in nature, triple in person, Creator of the world, most wise Ordainer of all things, Lawgiver most just, who punishes the wicked and has reward in store for virtue. St. Pius X: Restoring All Things In Christ

For a little video clip of our Saint (fast forward to 6:00)

Note the throne in the top pic, now being used by our splendid Pontiff!
Ken,
The pictures, as always are fantastic, but I’ve searched high and low for actual footage of St Pius. Have you, by any chance, ever stumbled across some?
I’ve seen footage of Leo XIII, Benedict XV, Pius XI, etc…, but never any of our saintly pontiff.
As aside: I attend an FSSP apostolate every week. This past week, Father asked me after Mass to go over to a nearby convent, where the nuns are moving out. They had traditional treasures galore they’d never thrown out. One of these happened to be a reliquary with second-class relics of Pius X.
We’re going to venerate them tomorrow evening after Mass.
Jon, Come to think of it, I have never seen any video of him either.
I seem to remember seeing a very video clip where you can see Saint Pius X for just a very short time… probably 4 seconds. I think he was taking a walk (in the garden) with not hat, so you can see the famous head with gray hairs.
I cannot recall where I saw this, though…
latinmass1983: you’re referring to this:
Go at 6:00.
Oh, there you go. Thanks Shy Poster (no need to be shy, we’re all pals here).
You know I’ve always thought “why didn’t some doofus ever film St. Pius X”, seeing as they had the technology by then? And I would love to be able to hear his voice!
Actually, that 4 second clip has made things worse ~ why only 4 seconds?! Good grief! Hopefully, one day a huge bonanza of Pius X film will be uncovered.
Most Holy Faher, St. Pius X ~ Pray for us!!
J: I agree, there is longer footage of Leo XIII. Maybe St. Pius didn’t like cameras?
