(The Second Installation of the Canonization of St. Pius X at Catholic Pictures)
Where did this go?: The red “bunting” around the congregation in St. Peters. Ordination circa 1966:

Also, a pretty interesting Italian film about Pope Paul VI’s last years. It shows Archbishop Lefevbre when he started the seminary in Econe, and some interesting footage of Paul VI opening the doors for the Holy Year (the wall almost fell on him!), on the Sedia Gestatoria, etc…
Those last two spoken sentiments of the film are a bit much, but this is a moving film of Paul VI. The footage of Msgr. Lefebvre shows him in the vigor of his inescapable decisions, lively and almost light upon the ground as he heads back into the seminary chapel at Econe. Fascinating. Paul VI’s remarks honoring his friend Aldo Moro are both heartbreaking and instructive. See now the wickedness of the world overgrown. Once birthed, now it consumes. Thanks for this wonderful piece.
Why is Pope Benedict hesitating in defrocking the new president of Paraguay?
Humboldt, Good question, but I’m not a Curial Cardinal, just a guy.
I think he (the guy in Paraguay) has not functioned as a priest for some time? Right? Also, the novelty of the situation might require some time to think things over.
“I think he (the guy in Paraguay) has not functioned as a priest for some time?”
Well he functioned as a bishop right up to the elections. What does the Vatican has to meditate about it? It is as clear as water. To no defrock him inmediately makes the Pope to be seen as dishonest. The Vatican defrocked Aristides when he became president of Haiti. Because he is a bishop this matter should be handled inmediately, it is direst than a simple priest.
Paul VI defrocked an abbad, which is the equivalent of a bishop.
Fascinating and depressing. Probably one of the worst popes in history but you have to feel sorry for him. It will take centuries to bring the Church back to half of what it was before his papacy.
Father, Agreed
It is not Econe, but the seminary of Albano, near Castelgandolfo.
Thank you for the video. I saw it last year but could not find it online since. I did not like the tone against His Excellency Marcel Lefebvre. Pope Paul VI was a confused man, one who only helped spread the confusion and apostasy in the Church by not stopping it. Marcel Lefebvre saved much of the Church and it will remain hidden to most for many years yet to come.
Agreed, Matthew, they played dark odious music when talking about the Archbishop, almost like he was Dracula or the boogie-man.
