And the high priest asked them, Saying: Commanding we commanded you, that you should not teach in this name; and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you have a mind to bring the blood of this man upon us. But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men. The God of our fathers hath raised up Jesus, whom you put to death, hanging him upon a tree. (Acts 5:27)

The President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Charlotte Knobloch, calls for the for “the withdrawal”, before the Catholic Conference on 21st May in Osnabrueck, of the recent Good Friday prayer that Pope Benedict XVI had sent to the address of the Jews at Eastertime….This is seen by many Jews as a call for mission to the Jews. Potsdam Rabbi Walter Homolka has therefore cancelled his participation in the Catholic Conference. (CathCon)

Saying: What shall we do to these men? for indeed a known miracle hath been done by them, to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem: it is manifest, and we cannot deny it. But that it may be no farther spread among the people, let us threaten them that they speak no more in this name to any man. And calling them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor teach in the name of Jesus. (Acts 4:16)

(Stoning of St. Stephen)
Hmm, a withdrawal might be good. I wouldn’t mind seeing the old prayer restored!
To me, it’s just very ballsy for people to ask another Religion to change how they pray.
I couldn’t imagine asking Jews, Muslims, whatever, to change their prayers, no matter how much I disagree with them.
