You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? (Matt 5:13)
The Wieliczka salt mine features a 3.5-km. tourist route that includes statues, all sculpted by miners out of the rock salt. Even the crystals in the chandeliers are fashioned of salt. The mine is justly referred to as “the underground salt cathedral of Poland.”

That was a very fun place! The chapels were interesting. I liked the smaller ones better than the large one you have here. Have you been there? It’s definintely worth a visit.
Wow
amazing
Talk about the underground Church!
I have always had a deep admiration for the Polish people and the tenacity with which they cling to the faith no matter who opresses them. It must be their Queen. That anyone would create such wonders for the glory of God in salt mines is astounding. God dwells in the heart of the Polish and they create such beautiful outward expressions of that truth.
Thank you Ken for sharing this with us. I especially like the second photo with Christ in the tomb and the way the light passes through the salt.
I have been there twice (it’s about 150 km from my city) and it’s very impressive - not only chapels, but whole mine.
Thanks for posting pictures from my native Poland - Wieliczka mine is breathtaking place and very devoutly sculpted years ago by miners (after hours!). One of Poland’s special places. God bless.
Posting above comment as ‘Anon’ was unintentional, it happened second time here.
