Laszlo Toth: The man who tried to destroy the Pieta. While being dragged away he said ”the statue was pre-Vatican II, and he was updating it to fit the new norms”. He was called crazy, but Cardinal Noe did it a few years later with the Altar of the Throne in St. Peters, and no one tried to stop him.
Ken,
Can we see the Altar pre and post-Noe?
Jon, I will have something up in the next few days on that.
I believe he actually said “I am Jesus Christ, risen from the dead.” Now, if grandiose paranoid delusionals had been allowed to reorder Vatican liturgical furniture in this way, imagine what would have happened…
Oh.
Is that actually true?
Paul VI, Bugnini, Cardinal Noe and many others were the liturgical Bin Ladens!
Here’s a little history on this guy.

The statement that the nut said he was “updating the pieta to conform to VatII” is not true, he did not say that, it’s my lil’ol sense of humour. He was just nuts. The Cardinal Noe thing is true, he did indeed rip out the old altar to update.
Yes, the iconoclasts have taken over the Church since VII.
Ken - that is true - I posted about this once - with photos. Great comparison with the man who vandalized the Pieta. if only many of the wreckovations in other churches were recognized as vandalism and the perpetrators punsihed!
Ken - here is my post:

Within that post is a link to Rorate Caeli who did a more exhaustive post on thee matter.
the altar of the throne was not a permanent one and can be reinstated at any time, you actually have a picture up on the site where the Pope is in his sede in place of the altar…
