I was once asked why I am so “High Church”. My response was, “Does God deserve any less than our very best”? These images portray Mother Church offering her very best.
It grieves my heart that she has been reduced to what we see today. What must the Almighty think of the poor shreds of dignity we offer him?
Our Lord was born in a manger and died on a cross for the salvation of all. It is a shame that we repay his sacrifice with little more than that with which the world first greeted him on that night two thousand years ago.
I hope the splendour of the ceremonial re-enters the liturgical field at the Vatican. Too much was disregarded in haste. No wonder so many were drawn to the Catholic Faith and now with all the revisions, and suppressions our Churches are more than half empty. Another one closing every week..Time to realize the mistakes of the loss of so much ceremony..
Oh how my soul longs for this sort of solemnity! Lord how long??
Isn’t it impressive? Just looks so solemn.

Totally Agreed Doug. Look at all we spend on secular things, but when it comes to Church we get enemic.
What a wonderful splendor of pre-Vatican2 times, maybe one day…
The Church knew how to impress non-verbally in her Ceremonial. Maybe one day it will come back….
