Sifting: Some Priests are busting their butts running around trying to learn the Extraordinary Mass per the Holy Father’s recent lifting of restrictions on the Mass. And a Pastoral care for their flock who request it:

Some, not so much……:

Pastor of St. Joseph Church in Springfield, MO: “I think that Pope Benedict’s recent decree reviving the old Latin Mass was a step backwards in the implementation of the decrees of the Second Vatican Council. which were approved and promoted by Pope Paul VI”. …. “The Council clearly wanted to give such power to the bishops. But in this too the Council’s teaching is being reversed.I don’t anticipate having a Latin Mass problem in our parish”….”We should all ask ourselves questions like the following: Do we really want to introduce a liturgy emphasizing sin and its expiation in preference to the celebration of the paschal mystery centering on the death and resurrection Christ?”.
“You know then how to discern the face of the sky: and can you not know the signs of the times? “ (Matt 16:3)
“For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears” (Tim 4:3)
Those clergymen who are against the Sacred Tradition of the Church is quite pathetic. Just like the Italian bishop Nogaro who forbids the implementation of Motu Proprio in his diocese, bishops and priests like that are actually agents of the devil. I have not judged them at all, since publicly opposing the Holy Father is enough to reveal their true colors.
The quote from the priest from Springfield seems to deny the expiatory/Sacrifical nature of Mass. The “New Way” has been an utter failure, why can’t they admit this? I don’t worry, Tradition will win, it’s growing, and militant. Another 30-40 years of this nonsense at most.
I feel sad for this priest (and so many others). He is obviously speaking from ignorance. Perhaps that is because he is a “Stepford Priest” - he bought what they taught in the seminary hook, line, and sinker. One thing about the “old” seminaries is they taught a man to think, question, and reason. Now they think the professors have a direct line to the “All-knowing Presence” and everything they say is true. In my seminary experience most of it was either garbage, heresy, or “nunism.” The only thing that saved me was Our Lady. As St. Alphonsus said, without devotion to Mary you’re as good as damned.
Yes, we should pray for all Priests (good, bad, or otherwise)
It may be due to my age but I don’t see what the big deal is. Some people don’t care for the latin Mass. So what! Don’t go to it. Attend the ordanary Mass. Some people have a drawing to it. Ya thats great for those guys. In my oppion It’s as if people act like where ever you fall on this topic makes you a better Christin. So long it’s in agreement with them.
