What great pictures.
Great pictures! I find it quite sad that children in orphanages in that time had a better chance of “turning out well” ie being responsible, Christian, knowing right from wrong, able to live a normal productive life – than your average pampered middle class suburban teenager of today.
All this excess wealth with its soft easy life has made us fat, lazy and complacent. I am at the top of that list BTW…

The orphanages seemed to work better than the foster-child system too. And, the kids were almost garaunteed to grow up Catholic.
