The first picture is my favorite. I pray for the return of papal pomp and circumstance. What is being elevated in not the person of the Pope, but rather the primacy of the PAPAL OFFICE. He is the vicar of Christ and should be treated as such. He is not just…”one of us…” Oh no, I feel a Marty Haugen song coming on….
The Church has capitulated the “sensory” aspect of human nature over to the secular world. Our senses have become a vacuum, and nature hating a vacuum, have been taken over, via the soft-porn that passes for “entertainment” today. Our 5 senses have been deprived of holiness, and beauty, uniqueness, & nobility via the Liturgy, and are captured by the world instead.
The Church always Knew the value of Beauty to attract converts. Would Oscar Wilde have converted on his death-bed if he was born in our age, and saw the post-VatII liturgical practices?
Also a more practical reason for the Sedia: easier to see for Pilgrims.
